چکیده
To investigate lower extremity muscle strength as risk factor for an acute ankle injury in youth athletes. Cohort study. Basketball and floorball clubs. 188 (≤21) male 174 female 1RM leg press, maximal concentric isokinetic quadriceps hamstrings well isometric hip abductor were measured athletes followed up to three years. Cox regression models used statistical analyses. In males, greater press increased the of any type (Hazard ratio [HR] 1 SD increase, 1.63 [95% CI, 1.12–2.39] 1.43 1.01–2.01], respectively). females, difference between legs abduction non-contact (HR 1.44 1.03–2.02] 1.03–2.00], However, ROC curve analyses showed AUC:s 0.57–0.64 indicating “fail” “poor” combined sensitivity specifity these tests. Greater both sexes along with asymmetry females injury.

Weaker lower extremity muscle strength predicts traumatic knee injury in youth female but not male athletes
Background The role of lower extremity (LE) muscle strength for predicting traumatic knee injury in youth athletes is largely unknown. Aims The aim was to investigate the influence of LE muscle strength on traumatic knee injury in youth female and male athletes. Methods 225 athletes (40% females) from sport senior high schools in Sweden were included in this case-control study. The athletes...
متن کاملAssociation Between Concussion and Lower Extremity Injuries in Collegiate Athletes
BACKGROUND Concussions have been associated with elevated musculoskeletal injury risk; however, the influence of unreported and unrecognized concussions has not been investigated. HYPOTHESIS The purpose of this study was to examine the association between concussion and lower extremity musculoskeletal injury rates across a diverse array of sports among collegiate student-athletes at the concl...
متن کاملComparing Isometric Strength of Selected Lower Extremity Muscles in Hyperpronated Foot With Healthy Male Athletes
Purpose: The proper neuromuscular recruitment patterns of hip and knee muscles are essential for dynamic stabilization of the knee. According to the kinematic chain, weakness in the performance of one motor segment can affect other segments of motion. Thus, the aim of this study was to compare the isometric strength of selected muscles of lower extremities in the hyperpronated foot with t...
متن کاملAssociation between frontal plane knee control and lower extremity injuries: a prospective study on young team sport athletes
Background/aim Poor frontal plane knee control can manifest as increased dynamic knee valgus during athletic tasks. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between frontal plane knee control and the risk of acute lower extremity injuries. In addition, we wanted to study if the single-leg squat (SLS) test can be used as a screening tool to identify athletes with an increased...
